15 Aug Vincent Burnelli
Vincent Burnelli, an American aeronautics engineer, is credited with many patents that are in use today. Additionally, he is considered in some circles as the “father” of the lifting body and flying wing because he is the first to pioneer an actual full scale flying aircraft using this concept. Many of his patents have allegedly been compromised, stolen or plagiarized by several of today’s aircraft manufactures. Additionally, he was banned from the design and production of military aircraft even though they proved to be safer and more efficient. Your mission, should you decide to accept (and I suggest you accept), is to research this aviation pioneer and decide whether he was abused by the government, the aircraft manufacturers and if his patents really were “stolen.”
Was Foul Play Affot?
Research this interesting bit of aviation history and discuss his ideas, his designs and what, if any, you believe was "stolen" from him and what legal recourse, if any, was taken in an effort to protect his inventions.
