15 Aug Othello Analysis
I uploaded “Othello” Text below, just read it and answer the questions on it please, Only cite from the text I uploaded, don’t use any other sources. Thank you
1. Discussing your answer with SPECIFIC examples to illustrate your ideas, discuss Othellos value system. What does he put above all other things and why? Are there any characters in the play that you think he values? Why or why not?
2. What are Othello’s internal conflicts? What are his external conflicts? How do these conflicts affect and/or torment him throughout the play?
3. Discuss Desdemonas reaction when Othello accuses her of infidelity. Is her reaction realistic? Believable? Do you feel she should have reacted differently? If so, how?
4. With specific details to illustrate your answer, write a character analysis of Iago in which you discuss the type of man he is, how he treats others, how he is seen by others, and how he displays his true nature throughout the play.
5. Perhaps you may think that this is an odd question with which to end, but is this story clearly Othello’s? Yes, it is. But for whom else is this story a tragedy? OK, Desdemona, yes, for obvious reasons. But what if you were to consider this question and think about Iago? Or his wife, Emilia? What about Cassio or Brabantio? So …whose tragedy is this? I would like you to also approach the topic from the other way…whose tragedy is this definitely not? For anything you say, please discuss why, and provide evidence to support your answer.
