  1. You should plan to include at least 2 direct references to specific Scriptures and at least 2 references/quotations of other readings that were used in those previous discussions.
  2. Compose a statement that articulates and defends your own theology of scripture. This paper should be 900-1000 words long. It should follow all APA formatting standards. Your paper should include the following topics (the questions are meant as a guide to your thinking, not to be strictly answered in the paper):
    1. A short introduction that sets for the plan and main themes of the paper.
    2. What is Scripture? Write your own statement on the nature of scripture. This should include a consideration of Scripture as revealed and/or inspired. This should make some mention of the closed canon of the Bible. Consider key terms that you use to describe Scripture and explain them clearly. Think of this as your own elaborated statement on Scripture akin to the denominational statements.
    3. What is the role of Scripture? How do the functions of Scripture emerge from its nature? How does IBS take into account the nature of Scripture and guide our use of Scripture? Think of connecting the nature of Scripture to how the Bible functions in the Church and spiritual disciplines today.
    4. A short conclusion that draws together the main themes of the paper.
  3. When you have completed your assignment, save a copy for yourself and submit a copy to your instructor by the end of the workshop using the quick-link or the Activities button
