A central issue that arises regarding both the ethics of abortion and the ethics of animal rights is the moral status of a fetus and/or non-human animals respectively. Is the moral status of a fetus (at any term of development) equivalent to the moral status of any non-human animal? Be sure to carefully explain your response. How does your response inform your view of the permissibility of abortion and the killing of non-human animals for food or medical research?
