15 Aug Systemic Interventions
In your readings for this week, you learned about what it means to work with partial family systems. You also began to see how systems theory can be applied to treating people struggling with an addiction.
For this discussion, you will need to select a speaker who shared their story of recovery in the viewed in Week 1. (Note that the speakers are identified by name at the end of the film at 53:40.) Assume that they present for treatment as they were when they were early in recovery with their family or significant other and respond to the following:
- Describe how the readings from this week would help you to view their family system.
- How might you intervene from a systemic perspective?
- What might be the difference between a first and second order change in their treatment?
