1) Your response should be approximately 2.5-3 pages (double spaced, in 12-point font) and no longer than 4 pages in length.
2) MLA formatting is required, including in-text citations, a properly formatted title and concluding paragraph.
3) Following the writing method weve been working on this semester, you are required to have a thesis that clearly establishes your argument. The thesis should be part of your introductory paragraph, which introduces the context necessary for a reader to understand the importance of your thesis.
4) Your body paragraphs must make use of close reading (claim/evidence/analysis). Paraphrasing will not be accepted as the source for your analysis. You will be required to choose specific quotations and to analyze the specific language of those quotations directly.
5) Outside sources are not acceptable for this assignment. Even if properly cited, any use of outside sources will result in a failing grade. The exam is meant to be your thinking and writing, alone.
