We discussed four explanations for why the LDP has stayed in power since 1955 despite Japans socio-economic changes: good economy, clientelism, weak and uncoordinated oppositions, and flexible policy adaptation. 

Pick one reading from Week 2 and discuss (i) which explanation(s) the reading supports (can be multiple explanations), and (ii) which evidence you find the strongest in the reading.   

Note: For direct quotations, include the page number as well, for example: (Field, 2005, p. 14). Rephrasing what the author says in your own words and cite [e.g., Field has argued that . (Field, 2005, p.14)] is generally better than direct quotations, unless you think you cannot rephrase the authors point better than s/he did.
