Search the Internet and choose a current issue that is relevant to the Congress.
Write a 2 to 3-page paper of your insights:
- Which current debates in Congress are related to the topic you have selected?
- What are the viewpoints of the various political parties about your topic?
- What are major pieces of legislation related to your topic?
- How does the make-up of the membership of Congress impact your topic?
- Give some examples in which the informal process of a bill becoming a law potentially impacts your topic?

Be sure the current event that you choose follows these guidelines:
- The publication date of the article must be no earlier than 4 months before the start of the session.
- News articles must be from reputable news sources, with links to the original article(s) provided.
