In this week’s assignment, you will explore craniofacial anomalies which are a group of congenital disorders. For your discussion this week, explore an acquired disorder affecting structures or functions presented in this week’s readings. Examples could be facial fractures due to trauma, impact of diseases on the musculature for articulation/resonance, or an acquired condition such as Bell’s palsy.
In your post, introduce your classmates to your selected topic including underlying cause(s) and provide information on incidence/prevalence. Discuss the common manifestations of your selected topic on articulation and/or resonance. Share with your colleagues the role that the Speech Language Pathologist plays in the care of persons with the diagnosis you selected.
