31 Aug Issues in Education
The capstone will be an inquiry paper based on research about an issue in education. The inquiry paper should include sources from qualitative, quantitative, and/or informational text about the issue. The paper should be at least 5 pages (including the title and reference pages), double-spaced and typewritten (Times Roman, 12 point font), follow the guidelines of APA formatting.
Directions
The inquiry paper must be at least 5 pages covering an educational issue of your choice. Include at least 5 professional journal articles or publications in addition to information from the textbook.
- Write a title that reflects the topic to be covered.
- Write an introductory paragraph describing the topic and what impact this issue has on the field of education.
- Describe the information you found in your research that relates back to your topic. Be sure to show more than one side to the issue.
- For a concluding paragraph, write a persuasive reaction to the thesis topic. This should not merely repeat the information from your research but should express your personal reaction. Consider the realities of schools, as you know them. Base these reactions on your academic and experiential background. Why do you support this stance? How would it support students learning success?
- Include citations if you use direct quotes and a References page in APA format.
Writing Recommendations
- Check for spelling and grammatical errors!
- Your writing tone should be formal and you should refrain from using first-person pronouns unless you are referring to your own direct experiences. For example, do not say Im going to tell you about Just tell the reader about the topic without referring to yourself.
