One of the primary duties of an accountant is to prepare written reports. Accountants today must be able to research, interpret and communicate complex accounting subjects in an easy-to-understand manner. The subject of your research may be any auditing, financial reporting or tax-related issue that you can research in the FASB Codification database.
Your final paper should meet the following requirements:
- seven (7) page minimum length (including cover page and references page)
- body of the paper (content) must be a minimum of 5 pages, double spaced
- utilize and cite AT LEAST two outside sources (other than the course text)
- include citations using APA guidelines
- include a cover page and a bibliography page (not included in the content minimum)
- 12 pt. font Times New Roman
- VeriCite score of 25% or less (you can submit your paper to the assignment to see the VeriCite score. You do not need to do anything else. You can check as many times as you like, I will only review the final submission).
- NO Google docs or Pages files will be accepted. You should submit a Word doc or a PDF.
Submissions will be checked for authenticity using VeriCite. VeriCite generates a similarity score comparing your writing to online resources and the work of other students.
PAPER EVALUATION AND GRADING:
·40 points – A solid introductory paragraph which outlines the issue or issues you are researching.
·110 points – Adequate explanation and summary of the subject and related research support and analysis.
·40 points – Communication skills: Reading ease, grammar, spelling, neatness, originality, creativity, proper form and English.
·60 points – Analysis of various viewpoints. Be sure to include your own opinion of the subject matter as well as an overall conclusion. The conclusion should also discuss why you arrived at your decision and include defense of your position.
·Paper should include a title page and reference page of sources used.
·Content of the paper (body of paper) must be 5 pages (double spaced) minimum.
·At least 2 outside sources (other than the textbook) must be utilized and cited
.·Papers will be scanned through Vericite. No plagiarism will be tolerated.
·LATE RESEARCH PAPER: Late research papers will not be accepted. Exceptions will only be given under the most extenuating circumstances and will be considered on an individual basis. The paper is disclosed at the beginning of class so the student has 8 weeks to prepare for this deadline. A grade of “0” will be received unless advance permission is received directly from the instructor.
·The paper will account for roughly 25% of the course grade.
