For this assignment, you will write a six-to-seven page paper thoroughly reviewing a specific culture through the therapeutic lens. The paper will include at least five peer-reviewed sources(i.e., journal articles, textbooks) above and beyond the class textbooks. No website citations will be allowed. (CLO 1, 4, 5, 6; MLO 8.1, 8.2, 8.3)

 

(a) an Introduction paragraph, where the student outlines what he or she hopes to accomplish in the paper, (b) a section describing the selected culture (ie., prevalence in the U.S., values, etc.) and relevant historical events, if any, that are significant to this culture, (c) a section describing common complaints or issues that a person from this culture may present with in a therapy setting, (d) treatment philosophy based on empirically validated studies, which includes major therapeutic techniques or interventions, (e) a section discussing how religious or spiritual aspects may arise in the therapy setting, and (f) a conclusion section summarizing the paper. This paper will be in APA format, with a title page and reference page.
