31 Aug Assignment: Estimate Future Needs Assignment
This creative project requires visionary leadership. Imagine you were asked to serve on a state board of education committee to brainstorm new curricula and programs to address the future needs of education. There are many experts serving on this committee from all areas of education. You were chosen because of your area of expertise. For this assignment, create a written curriculum/program for your school district, which addresses a problem or a need you foresee. Here are the steps to follow as you develop your paper:
- State your area of expertise and why you were chosen to serve on the committee.
- Examine the demographics of your district and “profile” possible needs.
- Define a potential problem or need to address.
- Present your vision.
- Define the mission of the curriculum.
- State the goal and the objectives (one goal and several objectives).
- List/describe the components of the program.
- Identify the needed resources.
- Design an assessment plan.
- Describe the staffing and in-service programs needed.
- Explain the benefits/rationale of the program.
As a leader, you will often be required to make decisions that will influence the future. Studying the field of visionary leadership can provide you with a rationale for making decisions.
In this week’s work, you will gain experience in planning a curriculum that addresses a current issue. In this scenario, you will work as an expert in your field.
Focus on the following questions as you complete this assignment:
- What recommendations would you suggest?
- How would you ensure that your views are heard, seen, and acknowledged?
