To provide a contextual framework, you are encouraged to use the course reference, Project Management: Case Studies, pages 317-354, The need for Project Management Metrics.

 

Note: You may request permission from your instructor to substitute an alternative case study scenario if you do not want to use the Kerzner reference.

 

Background

 

As you demonstrated with the development of the generic template for a quality management plan or directive in the Phase 3 Individual Project, you are clearly a subject matter expert on the topic of quality management. You have been hired by the chief executive officer (CEO), Al Grey, to provide expert analysis and make recommendations of how to inject quality management into the organization based on the case study scenario. Put yourself into the role of an expert, outside consultant who is briefing the executive-level management team of the organization in the case study scenario.

 

Your Task

 

Create a PowerPoint presentation for the corporate executives that addresses your analysis of how quality should be managed in the case study scenario. Compare the events that are described in the case study scenario to what the organization should have done based on your expert knowledge. Your analysis might address the following elements:

 

Was there a breakdown in managing quality? Why?

How and why was the quality management directive not followed?

What processes for quality assurance should have been used and why?

What tools for quality control should have been used and why?

How was the expectation for continuous improvement demonstrated?

Who failed their responsibilities and why?

What must be done to recover and inject quality into the organization?

This is an executive-level briefing. Your presentation slides should be concise and telegraphic; however, the detailed content that you are briefing to the executives (e.g., your detailed narrative analysis) must be included in the notes view. The narrative portion must follow APA standards for style, grammar, expression, and citations.
