The Application Assignment for EDL 525 is a culmination of the content knowledge gained as a result of the Candidates participation in this course.  It demonstrates the Candidates ability to synthesize knowledge about systems change using a context familiar to the candidate.  The students will write an analysis, which will help them learn to think and analyze systems from a school leaders perspective. The Application Assignment consists of the following steps:

 

Step 1: Candidate will choose a prekdg-12 school setting that they are familiar with and state the current schools vision and mission.  Candidate will provide some contextual details providing historical, political, and/or cultural background of the process that was used to form the current vision and mission statement.

 

Step 2: Candidate will determine one instructional system and one management system that exist within the school and using an assessment tool/method measure the extent to which the systems fulfill the schools vision and mission.

  Instructional System Examples: Assessment, Curriculum, Student Support Services

  Management System Examples:  Transportation, Facilities, Human Resource,  Purchasing

 

Step 3: Develop recommendations for improvement in the systems fulfilling the schools vision and mission.
