Reviewthe Institute of Medicine (IOM) report: “The Future of Nursing: LeadingChange, Advancing Health,” focusing on the four primary messages and theirsignificance and influence on the nursing profession.
Writea paper of 750-1,000 words about the impact on nursing of the2010 IOM report on the Future of Nursing (The title page and reference pagesare not included in the word count). In your paper, include:
1. Asummary the four messages outlined in the IOM report and explain why these aresignificant to nursing practice. (Provide enough to demonstrate understandingof the IOM report. What ARE the recommendations and why do they matter?)
2. Discussthe direct influencethe IOM report has on nursing education andnursing leadership. Describe the benefits and opportunities forBSN-prepared nurses. (What are the direct benefits to BSN nurses as aresult of the IOM report?)
3. Explain whyitis important that a nurse’s role and education evolve to meetthe needs of an aging and increasingly diverse population. (Discuss the nursesrole and the importance of the evolution of the education and role of the nurseto meet the needs of an aging and diverse population)
4. Discussthe significance of professional development, or lifelong learning,and its relevance in caring for diverse populations across the lifespan and within the health-illness continuum. (What is the relevance ofcontinued professional development?)
