31 Aug How to help my son with bipolar disorder
Hi, I am going to summarize what is been happening with my son. Any other question let me know.
He was having issues with knowing how to socialize with other kids on top of having anger issues. This led to other kids not wanting to play or be around him. Because of this, he started feeling lonely. He continued having problems with other kids in school and also in the neighborhood. He started getting depressed and started saying things like I don’t want to be alive anymore. He secretly began researching ways on how to end his life. He found a number to a suicide line in his search and decided to call them and tell them what he planned. This made them contact 911 and live on a military installation that triggers the military police action. They took him to the emergency room, and since he was already dealing with mental health before, they told us that they would have to admit him to a mental health institution. He spent two weeks at the Brynn Marr hospital in North Carolina. Those were the two worst weeks of our lives. Since then, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADHD. He has been in treatment ever since. It is not easy dealing with an eleven-year-old boy who has a mental illness. Somedays, he has his “episodes,” As parents, it is so difficult to deal with. Loving someone who suffers from a mental health disorder is very difficult because you don’t fully understand how their brain works, and it can be frustrating to both your loved one and yourself.
