31 Aug reflection essay
Write a reflection each week (due Weeks 5-9) on one screen text chosen in relation to the topic of the week, discussing how the political/economic issue of that week is communicated through your text. You will be expected to find your screen text prior to the tutorial, so that you may discuss your text with your peers during tutorial groups. You will thus be expected to take part in a tutorial group discussion each week on your text and to take notes for your use during your reflection. Your reflection should draw on the relevant weeks module in particular but also on learning from the earlier modules.

Makeover television remains an enormously influential development in screen culture. A reality TV format that generally focuses on lifestyle issues – beauty, health, renovations, relationships, families, pets – makeover television is a prime example of how contemporary screen culture provides tools and techniques for ‘the government of oneself and others’, as well as the blurring of domains of public social concern with popular entertainment.
