*Scaffolding of concepts inmath instruction is imperative for students to master concepts and develop astrong mathematical literacy. Math is a subject that naturally continues todeepen students comprehension of concepts as they progress through the gradelevels. For example, during primary grade instruction, students learn basicaddition concepts. In later grades, addition comprehension develops intorepeated addition that in turn leads into an understanding of multiplicationand so on. Building a strong mathematical foundation in early education usingvarious learning strategies in units of study ensures that the teacher is meetingthe needs of all learners.
