    • Offer, support, or challenge a position
    • Expand on your colleague’s posting.

1) I think for me personally it would honestly depend on what kind of research I would depending on the subject. Mix method gives you best of both worlds and to me the most information that you possibly can’t obtain for a research, project or helping someone that is going through something similar. Having the detailed information as possible is very important to be able to offer the best help and give the best resources to your client. I would take all the research methods with me possible and whether I am dealing with DV cases child abuse etc. I think taking all the research methods with me in order to do the best research and find the best research would be very helpful, qualitative and quantative will be give that extra level up on things to see what resources may or may not and why.  It is important to evaluate the research to make sure that its not false or made up. Fact checking is important so you are not helping someone with false information or refereeing them to the wrong resources and treatment plans. Getting stuff off social media a lot of the times isn’t true or real information. I would make sure that the information fact checks with real websites and credible sources before I even referred it to a client or stated anything from the articles.

2)
  • What specifically have you learned that will influence your work? Give 2 specific ways you will incorporate what you have learned.

I would have to say the time and effort that goes into researching a specific topic. So many factors go into reseach. I think mostly I learned that to conduct research you need to have a focus, be prepared and know going into your research that it takes time, effort, a lot of work and reseach. Two specific ways I will incorporate what I have learned are first and foremost, making sure that any reseach I conduct is done ethically. And second, I would always do everything I can to fact check information by using credible sources.

  • How will you use research to inform your work with clients? Give one specific example of a population and what type of research you might look up and read to augment your work with the client.

The population that I would use to look up research would be addicts and alcoholics. I would use statistical reseach because I am always interested in the statistics surrounding addiction, overdoses and anything related.

  • Why is it important to evaluate the sources of research claims? How will you verify statistics that may be quoted on the news or on Facebook or other social media?

It is important to evaluate sources because you need to make sure that the sources you are using are credible. There is so much information out there, that it is very important to make sure the information you are using is the correct informatioin. I would verify the statistics found on the above sources by re-checking those statistics on a credible scholarly site. For myself, I would use sites and organizations such as SAMSHA, NIDA, NIH, etc.
