Answer the following questions relating to organizational structures:

1. Describe the organizational principle known as the chain of command.  Do you believe a chain of command is necessary for a law enforcement agency and explain why or why not? 

2. Describe the unity of command principle and explain the difference between the chain of command and unity of command.  How do you believe these two concepts should work together within a law enforcement organization and what happens if, let's say, the unity of command is broken?
