The civil rights of all Americans were impacted by the implementation of the 13thAmendment because it abolished slavery, the 14thAmendment stated that all persons born or naturalized in the United States deserved equal rights and was an American citizen and the 15thAmendment prohibited any state from denying citizens the right to vote on the grounds of race, color or previous condition of servitude. The Amendments were circumvented by Congress by overriding Johnson veto. The laws became reality to all Americans when Congress passed a public law that prohibited discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin.
