What are the legal and ethical issues involved for the paralegal when a potential client (or even friend/family member) says she “just wants a quick answer” to a question such as, “Do I have a case?”  Explain your answer being sure to look to the Virginia State Bar Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as any other outside sources for guidance. 

Locate at least one case, whether a disciplinary case or a criminal case, involving an allegation of unauthorized practice of law (UPL) in Virginia, and summarize what happened, the applicable rules of law, as well as the court’s ruling in the matter.  DON’T just cut-and-paste!  What did you think about the case—did you agree with the ruling/outcome in the matter?
