Social acceptance and education

Your task is to create a discussion section of the report based on the discussed interview finding, follow the instruction below carefully:

This is the interview finding:

Theme: Social acceptance and education

Explanation: Migrant labour could be beneficial to the economy as well as the population as they help to boost productivity and educate people to contribute positively. However, various issues occur, like racial discrimination and lack of safety protection.

“Hiring migrant labour is advantageous in various ways because unskilled labour is affordable and efficient, it allows production and service objectives to be accomplished while maintaining consumer costs.”, proposed by Joseph through the interview. It is reflected that migrant labour is favourable in various ways. It boosts the domestic economy by contributing to different organisations. Therefore, the government and organizations should focus on protecting migrant labour’s safety to ensure their rights.

Towards society acceptance, Joseph shows disagreement. In fact, migrant labour faces many problems like racial discrimination. These issues are systemic and derived from racist rhetoric as well as perceptions towards nationalities. Barkawi, B. (2020) Therefore, it is essential to educate and train employees as a team with appropriate knowledge in accordance with equality, their rights and promote a positive corporate culture.

“Working away from home-country helps gaining access to international and supportive knowledge and skills”, quoted from Joseph in the interview. If countries could implement suitable education for migrant labour, their workforce is most likely to create positive impacts towards organizations as well as different markets, driving economic growth and interaction of international knowledge.

Discussion

Together with the findings, this is the most important aspect of the report. In this section you need to discuss the findings in relation to the existing literature/research on your chosen topic (migrant labour). Your analysis and arguments must all be supported by your references – every comment you make that presents as a fact. Assertion or argument has to be substantiated with a good reference that is cited or quoted in the text. Marks are lost for unsubstantiated opinions. In fact, your opinion is not sought here. What we are interested in is your capacity to synthesise and communicate well-researched information and relate it to your own

Research findings. As you are writing your discussion, think about questions such as:

What does the research tell us?

How does our research findings relate to existing research?

Does our research support, challenge or find something new in regards to existing research?

Is there a theory that our research ‘speaks’ to?

Analyse the interview data and discuss the findings in relation to appropriate academic literature and academic debates.  It is expected that you will draw upon the three required readings:

Lucas, Kristin (2017) Workplace Dignity in Scott, C. and Lewis, L (eds) The International Encyclopedia of Organisational Communication. John Wiley and Sons: 1-13

Sayer, Andrew (2007) ‘Dignity at Work: Broadening the Agenda’ Organization 14 (4): 565-581.
