The debate over whether to allow the expansion of slavery into the west was not simply yes or no, there were those who wanted it to expand hoping it would die as a result, and those who did not want it to expand in order to save it. You are to write an editorial on this issue: what should the nation do, and why? Should slavery be allowed to expand or not? You CANNOT argue to outlaw slavery, this is about expansion and the future of slavery. Write this as if it is 1850/55 and you have no knowledge of the Civil War to come.
