This is an informative speech that teaches a procedure or process; the general purpose is: to inform—a process.

  1. 1.The Specific purpose is to show a specific process including:
  • …Show how something works
  • …Show/describe a process that produces a particular outcome
  • …Show how to take something apart and put back together
  • …Show how to do something/how process is completed or accomplished

Topic (HOW TO DRAW)

  1. 1. Visual aids are required (PowerPoint, Projector not allowed) —How can you demonstrate something without any visuals? Follow the Tips for Presenting Visual Aids (see text). You need all necessary materials, ingredients, supplies, as well as a finished product. You must actually do process and not just explain it. We need to see you demonstrate something. For example, if you want to show audience how to scrapbook, you must actually put together a scrapbook page and demonstrate how it’s done.
  2. 2. Develop a key word outline. Keep in mind that you may have to summarize some steps and explain some parts of the demonstration that cannot be recreated in the short time and in the environment. Include in your speech an explanation as to why your audience might benefit from knowing the process you are showing them.
  3. 3. Present your visual aids well, making sure that everyone can see what you are doing as you speak and demonstrate the process.

The outline are in the picture.
