The purpose of this assignment is to recognize legal issues in nursing practice, identify the impact of laws and legislative process on nursing practice, and identify appropriate roles for the nurse manager-leader.
To fully advocate for the nursing profession, nurse leaders need to broaden their perspective of their responsibilities. This includes being aware of the nurse leader’s role in current legislative issues and laws that impact nursing practice.
1. For this assignment, you will write a 3-5 page paper using at least three scholarly references. Your paper will include:
a. Description of a current health care issue and a summary of a current bill being proposed to address the issue. (10 points)
b. Analysis of how this bill aligns with the Nursing Code of Ethics (how the bill supports or opposes the Code of Ethics) (10 points)
c. Analysis of how this bill impacts healthcare access for a specific ethnic and socioeconomic population. (10 points)
d. Explanation on how this will impact your own personal practice as a nurse leader. (10 points)
