your discussion small group write a post that in a few sentences describes the music-culture of your own community. Start with a summary of who and where your community is. Maybe it is a community of college students in Columbus, around ages 20-22. Maybe it is a community of family members. Perhaps it is a community that is based on a particular location, or a particular occupation. As you describe the community’s general music-culture, try to describe the musical styles or formats as best you can (for example, my music-culture is music for games, and it’s heard as sound-track recordings, rather than live performance). How does this music fit into daily life or special occasions within your community? (for example, whenever there is a wedding, we always do this one line dance, with the band playing and everyone singing). In your response to two of your group members’ post, comment on what they’ve described by linking it to similarities in your own community that strike you, or ask questions about things that are new to you.
