he purpose of this course is to increase awareness, sensitivity, insight, and understanding of the natural processes of the dying and grief, and the various psychological methods and strategies for living with loss. Historical, cross-cultural, literary, and spiritual sources will be explored, as well as medical, economic, and social trends which influence the course of life and living as well as death and dying.
Class will be interactive, devoted to discussion of current social problems, required readings, viewing videos, and life experiences. Each student will interview an individual who is grieving the death of a family member or friend.

The Academy Award winning movie, UP, by Disney, Pixar Pictures, will be viewed in class. Take notes on the themes in the movie that have to do with how the main character reacts to his wifes death and how he deals with his grief.
Interview someone who has had a significant death-related loss. Using examples from your interview ot your own lifes experience of a loss, connect the symbolism and themes from the m,ocie and how they may relate to the experience of grief, loss, and transition.
Use your assigned texts, class note, and at least two other resources, not including the movie, UP, to connect the concepts you are learning in class to your story.
Use APA format for the title page, running head, and referencing.
Use at least 3 references. Proper referencing is required. See the CCSU plagiarism policy.
The paper will be typed, double-spaced, #12 font, at least 12 pages, including one page as a title page and one page as a reference page.
In other words, there are to be at least 10 pages of writing/reflecting.
