09 Nov Finance paper
IMPORTANT: You need to read Merchant of Venice in order to write the essay. Here is a link to the play
http://shakespeare.mit.edu/merchant/full.html
Also it would be easier if you have a background in finance which involves knowledge of modern day banking, and 2007-2009 mortgage crisis.
Looking beyond Shakespeares social commentary, which is focused on life in England almost 600 years
ago, there are many elements of this play that contain lessons about banking, lending and risk that apply
to modern times.
In no less than two and no more than five pages (single spaced, 12 pica type), please discuss the errors
that Bassanio made in MOV from the perspective of good borrowing and lending (comparing what he did to current banking practices and his actions to those of the financial institutions that were major players in the 2007-2009 mortgage crisis).
Remember that all of this caused a major financial institutions meltdown in the U.S. economy that had to be rescued by the US government and has resulted in so many changes.
And finally, discuss those changes, at least in part, touching on the major issues.
(Also, I forgot to include Shylock’s actions as part of your analysis, but clearly he is important to analyzing this play from
the perspective of modern borrowing and lending.}
