Recruit a leader who will participate in a 30 to 45 min interview. Ideally, you will recruit a Barry Alumni who you do not know in order to build a new relationship and expand your network. It is recommended that you recruit someone who works in your “industry of choice”.
Conduct & Record a semi-structured interview using the below interview guide.
- Please tell me about a recent challenge you faced and what actions you took. What was the outcome?
- What are some other leadership challenges you routinely face and what do you do?
- What is a change project that you plan on initiating soon or have recently initiated? What is the problem that you are trying to solve?
- How do you generally divide your time and set your priorities?
- How can someone best prepare for eventually assuming a leadership position?
- Which leadership skills were the most difficult to develop?
- Whats the most important leadership lesson youve learned and how has it proven invaluable?

Was there ever a role you applied for and landed, but weren’t 100% qualified to do? How did you proceed?
Required Steps Following Interview:
1. Record your interview
2. On a Word document provide the Name, Title, Company Name, Contact Information (email/phone number), and brief biographical information (e.g. years of experience, education, etc.)
3. Detail the key themes that emerged for all 8 questions.
