09 Nov Mini-paper 2
Write a mini-paper (no more than 5 pages, not including data charts or bibliography) about provincial differences in health behaviours of men and women.
Your mini-paper must include charts(graphs) you make yourself using data from the 2020 annual component of the Canadian Community Health Survey, available from the Statistics Canada webpage.
Make charts(graphs) that compares health behaviours of adult men and adult women at ages 18-34, 35-49, 50-64 and 65+ living in the provinces of: Alberta and Ontario
Focus your analysis on the following health behaviour: Self-reported physical activity of 150 minutes/week (2020 CCHS)
Your mini-paper needs to include:
1. a very brief introductory statement of purpose;
2. charts (graphs) you make yourself to illustrate differences by age and by gender in your assigned health behaviour for each province with a discussion of the patterns you observe;
3. a discussion of differences/similarities in these patterns between the 2 provinces;
4. a discussion of potential factors underlying the observed differences in health behaviours that makes references to course materials (e.g., lectures/readings on pathways from relative poverty to health; lectures on the Grossman model of health behaviour, course lectures/papers on policy and health behaviour);
5. at least two additional data charts(graphs) that you make yourself, using Statistics Canada data, to examine the potential validity of the factors you have discussed in section 4 above;
6. a conclusion that discusses whether your findings are consistent with what we have been studying about health behaviours.
