In this assignment, your work as a reading teacher means that you must figure out how to assist students to read at grade level. Choose one of the scenarios and provide a full report as to how you plan to assist the student in reading growth. Note: Due to COVID Pandemic, you may not be able to utilize the curriculum lab.  Therefore, use other resources such as the internet searches, class discussions, PowerPoints from class, articles, etc. to assist with this project. 

Case 1: Rosa is a new student. She just began 2nd grade at the King Elementary School but is having difficulty grasping several areas. Here are some areas that she is working on: 

reads word by word 

reads slowly but seems to comprehend 

has trouble with sight (Dolch) words 

does not know how to choose appropriate books 

has little confidence in reading ability 

difficulty recognizing new words built on known words
