Preamble
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
In a minimum of 500 words respond to the following questions:
1. How was the U.S. Constitution, as it was drafted in 1787, a proslavery document? How was it an antislavery document?
2. What were the challenges to the African American freedom / Abolish movement during this time frame 1775-1820?
3. Other than an actual war is there any indication that Northerns and Southerns were willing to come to a compromise to end slavery? Why or why not?
