Order Instructions
Students will create a PowerPoint presentation on a current topic related to health care policy or economics (example attached) as the basis for an online discussion via the Discussion Board. The presenter will open their discussion by posting an initial thread, presenting an overview of the topic and posing opening questions, with the PowerPoint attached. A final summary posting to their discussion must provide an overview of class comments and summarize the student’s own perspective on their opening questions. Grading is as follows:
PowerPoint slide presentation – Minimum 12 slides, with references: 60 points
Opening post – Overview of presentation with opening questions 10 points
Summary of discussion – Minimum two paragraphs 15 points
Total possible 85 points
Grading is based on the following:
PowerPoint slides: All sides of the issue (i.e. pros and cons) are presented without bias. Avoid inserting personal opinion. No grammatical errors or typos. Scholarly research from evidence-based sources. Final slide contains references in APA format.
Opening Post: One paragraph overview of topic with minimum of three opening questions to prompt discussion of the issue.
Summary of discussion: Minimum of two paragraphs posted to the presentation discussion in which you synthesize the various viewpoints that were presented on the questions you posed about your topic, indicating the prevailing opinions. You should then share your own thoughts on the questions posed based on your research in creating the presentation. Were you all in agreement? Were valid, opposing arguments presented? Finally, what are the implications for the topic that was presented?
