Purpose: I have said before that the best writing is always about one thing. In analytical writing, you need to deal with one aspect, in detail, until you have fully explained it before you move on. 

Forcing yourself to focus on one aspect of writing is a good drill that you should be trying to work on a regular basis. How much mileage can you get out of a single detail?
