– In his Confessions, Augustine attempts to show that by nature human beings are seeking some ultimate form of happiness and that the spiritual life, a life lived in humble obedience to God, is the only type of life that genuinely fulfills human desire for meaning and happiness.  

-Sartre challenges this idea and argues that a rejection of God’s existence offers a life of greater moral responsibility.
