1. Per Bolman and Deal, what is McGregor’s Theory X from Theory Y and why is it important?
2. Bolman and Deal heavily reference Maslow, McgGregor’s Theory X and Y et al Human Resources theorists. Which company example in Bolman and Deal Part 3 in your own subjective view best illustrates how an understanding of Human Resources provides for organizational excellence, “a good place to work”, and briefly describe why (See attached ICMA article as a recent reference point on Maslow-why does he keep coming up?)
3. “Power is the ability to get things done they way one wants them done; it is the latent ability to influence people” . Bolman (Part 4) discusses at length the Challenger and Columbia disasters. What was the role of “power” in these disasters?
5. What is your biggest take away on Schein’s macro cultural dimensions (Chapter 6, 7)
