Description:
In this assignment, you will review Everyday Conversations from DeVito 6.3, with particular attention to Guidelines for Making Small Talk. You will create videos that demonstrate good and bad examples of people engaging in conversation. Then, you will explain tips about how to make small talk, make an apology, and give and receive a compliment. You will use the Discussion Board tool so that you can see videos from other students, but this board is separate from our normal Module 6 discussion.
Objectives:
Explore and practice the principles of conversation.
Analyze guidelines for making small talk and other aspects of everyday conversation.
Instructions:
Review Everyday Conversations from DeVito 6.3, with particular attention to Guidelines for Making Small Talk.
Create four separate 60-second videos TikTok style. In each video, demonstrate a bad then a good example of the following:
making small talk
making an apology
giving a compliment
receiving a compliment
You can record your videos to YouTube, TikTok, or Panopto in the classroom.
Copy and paste the share links to your videos into your response.
Integrating DeVito citations into your response underneath each video, explain what you did right and wrong in two to four sentences per video.

Keep in mind this is a separate board from our normal discussion board for the module. That is to say, the Module 6 discussion board is different from this assignment board.
You do not need special software for this, but some people prefer apps such as Canva (Link will open in new tab.) (Links to an external site.).
If for any reason you choose not to create the videos, you can write a two- to three-page paper, not counting the title page and the references page, describing your good and bad recommendations.
Assignment Submission:
The use of outside resources is strongly recommended, and all work must be cited and written in current APA format.
When you have completed this assignment, you will submit it to the discussion board area.
