Some ideas–p 18-22–when Helene and Nel are on the train South, p. 28, when Nel looks in the mirror and says “I’m me,” Eva’s long speech about why she killed plum, p 70-72, or Sula’s speech, p. 92 “I don’t want to make nobody else. I want to make myself.” What is perverse about this desire and its logic?
