Hello Deanna, thank you for sharing the information that you found while researching the differences that exist between scholarly journal articles and peer-reviewed articles.

As you mentioned, these terms are often used interchangeably, however, this should not be the case. Instead, these terms are used to describe two different types of articles with different types of criteria. Although these are two different sets of criteria, it is possible for an article to be both scholarly and peer-reviewed. As you mentioned above, a scholarly article is one in which a researcher, or academic, shares and presents the findings that they noted while conducting research. Although conducted by a professional, this does not classify the article as peer reviewed (GCU, 2022). In order to become a peer-reviewed article, this scholarly article must take another step through the peer-review process.
