16 May Exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule
Order Instructions
Throughout the course, we address the numerous exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule and consider the interplay between those exceptions and our individual liberties and Fourth Amendment rights. For your Course Project, you are to select one of the exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule that you will focus on throughout the project.
The project is divided into three separate parts. They are due in Weeks 2, 3, and 4. Below is an overview of each project part. You will find much more detailed instructions on the individual course project pages within the specific units of the course.
Part 1: In Week 2, you will begin Part 1 of your course project. For this portion of your project, you will select the exception to the Exclusionary Rule that you plan to address and write a one to two-page summary of that exclusion. Include in the summary a hypothetical situation that you made up (not that you found online or in a case) in which this exclusion would apply. Cite any sources used in APA format (both in-text and on a reference page).
