As you begin to read Dopesick by Beth Macy and watch her accompanying talk this week, it will soon become evident that the opioid epidemic in the U.S. has connections to many public policy spheres: public health, food and drug regulation, law enforcement, commerce, education, and more.
Please identify all the policy areas you see as relevant to the opioid epidemic in America. Where do you see the links to these areas in Part 1 of Dopesick, or Beth Macy’s talk? Which of these do you think might be most important to an appropriate public policy response, and why?
