Research Summary: Nursing Professional Autonomy
Today there is a substantial increase in nurse burnout, it's predicted that by the year 2030 there will be high demand for nurses and midwives. Due to the high shortage of nurses, there are many negative effects such as poor healthcare, negative patient outcomes, increased healthcare cost, and many more. Therefore, there is a need to foster nursing professional autonomy to create a sustainable workforce. The research title is " Professional Autonomy in Nursing: An Integrative Review" (Pursio et al. , 2021).
The research aims to summarize and make awareness of the importance of knowing nursing professional autonomy. Professional Autonomy in Nursing entails the involvement of nurses in making decisions towards improving quality and safe patient care. The research is aimed to find out the elements and factors related to the professional autonomy of nursing. The research methodology is an Integrative Review that was conducted to find out the current and robust knowledge of professional autonomy in nursing.
A search was conducted in the following search engines such as PsycINFO, Scopus, PubMed, and CINAHL. The terms used include 'professional autonomy, nursing, and decision making. The research results showed twenty-seven relevant studies. There is a lack of competence and decision-making independence which describe professional autonomy in nursing (Hine-Sanabria et al. , 2018).
In conclusion, healthcare professionals need to comprehend nursing professional autonomy to enhance the nursing workforce and create a healthy working environment. Such an environment should enable the participation of nurses in leadership and decision-making. This research implies supporting nursing leadership and nursing practice hence fostering professional autonomy in nursing.

Research Summary: Medical-Surgery Nursing
Medical surgery is my area of nursing practice. There has been a rise in the cost of long-term patient care and increased life expectancy in the regional hospitals which have led medical providers to offer home care services to patients (Fatemi et al., 2019). Therefore, I have summarized a research study titled: “Challenges and Barriers Faced by Home Care Canters: An Integrative Review”. It's effective to study the barriers and challenges faced by home care centers since they aid in achieving quality healthcare goals (Valizadeh et al., 2019).
The research study is an integrative review whereby there were specific keywords were searched from several search engines or databases. Examples of the keywords include barriers, challenges, home care nursing, and home care. Examples of search engines used include Goggle Scholar, EBSCO, SID, Magiran, IranDoc, ScienceDirect, and EMBACE. 39 research articles were used for the review and analyzed using the indirect cohort method (Broome) (Valizadeh et al., 2019).
The results of the study showed that the barriers and challenges faced by the care centers included ignoring ethical issues, cultural constraints, and information poverty (illiteracy). Economic problems, absence of security and legal support, lack of effective and adequate human resources, poor infrastructure, poor organizational communications, and negative application of integrated and standard methods for home care nursing services (Valizadeh et al., 2019).
In conclusion, home care centers are faced with many challenges leading to inefficiency in patient care delivery. Therefore, causing an increased number of hospitalized patients. There is a need for accurate and comprehensive programming and coordination among healthcare
providers and the public towards implementing appropriate guidelines, measures, and interventions that will promote quality home care services (Fatemi et al., 2019).

Research Summary: Nursing Grand Rounds (NGR)
Medical-Surgical nursing is my current area of practice. I have learned that medical-surgical practice requires efficient nursing professionalism to ensure the positive patient outcome. There is a need for the improvement of nursing professionalism. Therefore, the title of the research review is Nursing Grand Rounds (NGR). NGR is a method used by several hospitals to shed light on and improve the development of nursing professionalism (Valizadeh et al., 2019).
The main purpose for selecting this paper is to enhance the implementation of NGR in hospitals and other clinical facilities which aids improve the art of nursing practice and supports evidence-based nursing. The study aims to classify the existing NGR studies and conduct an integrative review. The methodology of the study was done via online databases which include Science Direct, Cochrane Library, Scopus, Medline, PubMed, Google Scholar, Irandoc, and SID (Valizadeh et al., 2019).
The authors used specific searching keywords which are evidence-based practice, nursing, and ground rounds. The search was within the scope of study between 2000 and 2019. Cooper's five-step approach was used for the examination and integration of the existing NGR concept. The steps include identification of a problem, literature search, evaluation of the findings, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of the findings/results.
Results of the study showed that NGR provides a dynamic and innovative way to develop evidence-based and continuous learning to improve patient outcomes. In conclusion, NGR implementation creates a social setting for learning the art and science of nursing as well as supporting evidence-based nursing. Therefore, it is recommended healthcare facilities consider the implementation of the NGR method to develop evidence-based practice and education in nursing (Griffiths et al., 2020).

Diabetes has been the most prevalent disease in our healthcare system. My research article focuses on gestational diabetes; the title is ‘Guidelines for the nursing management of gestational diabetes mellitus: An integrative literature review’.
The type of research study of this article is an integrative literature review, that was conducted June, 2018. There was an extensive search, extraction, appraisal and selection of data from existing nursing management guidelines of gestational diabetes mellitus; this was according to stages reported by Knafl and Whittemore in the journal of nursing, 2005. Five step process was used which include research question formulation, guidelines identified critical appraisal, data extraction and analysis (Mensah et al., 2020).
The purpose of the research study is to help nurses and midwives understand the relevant guidelines which will help them conduct early screening, diagnosis and management of gestational diabetes mellitus. This purpose is essential because it has prevented and reduced pre- and post-pregnancy complications for both the child and the mother. Research question for the study was; if there are guidelines for the nursing management of gestational diabetes mellitus, while some guidelines are designed for medical practitioners (Zhang et al., 2019).
The results of the study showed that there was need for early screening and diagnosis of gestational diabetes. Guidelines for nursing management were found mostly management during pregnancy, intra and postpartum gestational diabetes mellitus. However, these guidelines differed in their practices and were not comprehensive. There were several contextual barriers to nursing management such as high nursing staff turnover, lack of trained nurses, lack of standard protocol and lack of poor referral systems (Mensah et al., 2020).
The paper recommended women need to be educated on how to maintain physical fitness and healthy diet. As well as train nurses on pregnancy-specific lifestyle screening, treatment and modifications for complications. The methodology was extensive although some guidelines were unable to be accessed because of subscription. In conclusion, some guidelines for nursing management of gestational diabetes mellitus were found but weren’t comprehensive and the study didn’t consider the recommendations’ implementation barriers. Therefore, there is need for development of further guidelines and critical scrutinizing of the guidelines of nursing management (Mensah et al., 2020).

Summary
SARS-CoV-2 can swiftly spread in big populations. Those who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in a Chicago homeless place after four rounds of bulk PCR testing were isolated as part of a multidisciplinary response to an outbreak (COVID-19). A revised vulnerable model is used to characterize the shelter incident. The SARS-CoV-2 testing and isolation methods at the facility are included in this model. COVID-19 spread swiftly in the facility before the pandemic was recognized, although testing and quarantine reduced transmission rates. More than half of the residents and staff members tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in this study experiment, which reported a COVID-19 pandemic in a large homeless facility with many inhabitants. The findings show that before extensive testing, there was a greater infection rate. During the outbreak, the majority of the inhabitants and workers became infected.
The study's main objective was whether mass PCR testing and quarantine in crowded settings is feasible, and whether suspected COVID-19 outbreaks in homeless facility should be addressed as soon as possible. Is it possible to detect epidemics in crowded situations using mass PCR testing? The goal of the article was to describe a COVID-19 outbreak and how the facility dealt with it. COVID-19 outbreaks in restricted settings could develop swiftly due to high transmission rates. Modeling results imply that most instances were not detected until broad testing, even after symptom screening. It's likely that no exact tally of the total number of infections was recorded during the outbreak. On March 14, 2020, COVID-19 was discovered in a 40-year-old hospital patient. SARS-CoV-2 infection had been verified in ten PGM inhabitants by March 31. Seven men, two women, and one man worked overnight.
Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were used. Choosing what to test and on whom. Before the study begins, the following was determined to assess the treatment's effectiveness. Analysis divides investigation and response into four phases. PGM did not routinely test for SARS-CoV-2 during phase 1. (March 1-29, 2020). COVID-19-related symptoms were treated at local acute-care hospitals.
