SPT 501 Literature Review Guide

Review the Literature Review critical elements that must be addressed in the Final Project Guidelines

and Rubric found in the Assignment Guidelines and Rubrics section of the course. Then, use this

worksheet to guide your evaluation of each article/study. Use this only as a guide. Your final review of

each article/study must be a one-page written narrative using APA formatting.

This guide may be used in completing the Module Three Short Paper: Literature Review Practice

assignment and Final Project Milestone Two: Literature Review Draft.

Review and complete the following three parts:

Part One

For each article/study you plan to evaluate, consider the following questions:

 How does the article relate to your research question?

 What bias or limitations are present in the article? What impact will they have on your

research?

 What methods were used in this study? If human subjects were used, were ethical

considerations taken into account?

 How will this study inform your research proposal?

Part Two

Next, begin outlining your review for each article by writing one to two paragraphs for each critical

element required for the review (approximately one page total).

1. Analyze the literature and information for how it relates to your research question. Cite the

source in APA format, provide a succinct description, and explain its relevance to your research

question.

2. Describe any bias or limitations present in the source, and the potential impact these may have

on your research.

Part Three

Using the outline you created in Part Two, write a one-page narrative in Microsoft Word using APA

formatting for each article evaluated. Do not turn in a filled-out version of the Literature Review Guide

document; this is only used to help develop the outline or initial draft of each article/study reviewed.

Combine all articles reviewed into one document before submitting.
