Drama analysis. The play you will analyze for this essay is A Doll House Revisit the literary analysis outline (the HATMAT document) for information on structuring your essay (you can use this document as an outline for your essay, but you do not have to) view/download the citation document for citing sources from drama in MLA format (you will have to include textual evidence from the play in your essay).

You will structure your essay the same as the literary analysis – intro, thesis statement, at least two well-developed body paragraphs with textual evidence, and a conclusion. Go back and review the literary analysis outlines for fiction and poetry to get an idea of structure.

So, in short, you need to have the following things in your essay:

introduction with a thesis statement as last sentence (literary/dramatic devices you’ll discuss and theme/focus)

at least TWO WELL-DEVELOPED body paragraphs with textual evidence from the play

don’t forget to analyze the evidence itself (“Why is this example important to my point? What about this particular evidence supports my claims?”

don’t forget to answer the “so what” and “why” of your points/evidence and how they connect to and prove your thesis

a conclusion
