4.5.1 Team Case Analysis
Case studies help you to apply your knowledge to analyze real-life situations. Your team will be assigned one case to analyze. Each team will assume the role of consultants employed to present your analysis and recommendations to the assigned company’s senior management. The case report is expected to include two parts:
Part A:
· Business-Level Strategy:
o Determine if the company is using a differentiation, focus, or low-cost strategy.
o Decide if company’s functional competencies are sufficient for achieving its strategy
Part B:
· Strategic Direction:
o Offer recommendations for improving the company’s strategy and competitive position. Analyze what the company must do to implement those recommendations. o Offer recommendations for resolving ethical issues identified in part A (Identify all the stakeholders who may be affected by your recommended social responsibility strategy; develop a realistic and thoughtful approach/plan about how to confront unethical behavior in a given situation)
Assessment will be based on the following criteria:
Quality and depth of answers: apply these concepts; provide evidence and information to
support the answer
· the industry environment, using five forces analysis Risk of Entry, Bargaining Power of Suppliers, Threat of Substitutes, Power of Complement Providers and Bargaining Power of Buyers (15%)
· the competitor analysis (15%)
· the Internal environment analysis: identify Strengths and Weaknesses (15%)
· business-level strategy (10%)
· ethical analysis (10%)
· SWOT analysis (10%)
· identify viable strategic decisions; recommend an appropriate one (15%)
Structure, style, sources of information (10%)
· All sources of information must be cited.
· Formatting American Psychological Association (APA) academic formatting style.
· The report should be 3 pages: no cover page; double spaced, 1-inch margins; 12-point font; free of spelling errors or grammar errors.
