Assignment 4c: Mid-Term Research Paper

Please follow the directions given !!! This assignment is the second half of the outline that was done by the writer in week 3!!! Make sure all instructions are followed!!!

Objective: Explore major ideas relating to the Holy Spirit, redemption, and the Church.

At this point in our class, we have covered three primary areas in the Grudem text: Grudem, Wayne. Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine. Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1994. ISBN: 978-0310-28670-7.

The Holy Spirit,

The Doctrine of the Application of Redemption, and

The Church (be sure to read this week’s assigned reading prior to writing this paper). Assigned reading in Grudem text for this week is, pp. 966-1083

It may be that you have taken this course out of a deep interest in theology, or simply because it is required. Regardless, there are very important questions to consider:

Why do we study theology?

Why is theology important?

What is systematic theology, and why is it important?

Instructions

In a ten-page paper, include three sections where you answer these questions for each of the three primary areas we have read to this point in the course. So for example, why do we study the Holy Spirit? Why is a theological study of the Holy Spirit important? How does systematic theology aid in the study of the Holy Spirit? In the other two sections of your paper, you would answer these same questions for the other primary areas (the Doctrine of the Application of Redemption, and the Church).

Try to write roughly three pages on each of those three topics, so that you reserve a page to reflect on how your study to this point in the class has affected your thinking on these topics and how this study may help you as you minister to the church and to unbelievers.

Include at least two scholarly sources that support your writing. This normally means you should find two recent sources (i.e., five years old or more recent) that are truly academic, such as academic journals, college-level texts, etc.

Apply Turabian form using the notes-bibliography style which is described in your Turabian handbook (A Manual for Writers by Kate Turabian et. al., 9th edition).

For references use the Grudem book and the sources scholarly sources that the writer chose.
