25 Jul Trends in Health Information Discussion
Social media often elicits a love-hate reaction among its users. People love instant communication and the ability to connect virtually with those they care about the most. Although many people use social media to glean important information, we have learned in the past few weeks that social media can also disseminate dangerously wrong information, particularly in the health and public health arenas. Thus, healthcare leaders need to be aware of the impact of social media on the public and be able to wield social media tools to promote important information on behalf of the organization as well as discredit harmful and erroneous information.
