Evidence-based leadership (EBL) is a leadership approach designed to implement evidence-based strategies to have the greatest impact on patient outcomes (Geerts et al., 2020). Therefore, EBL requires every clinician to perform in a way that helps to sustain and achieve high-quality outcomes in the healthcare organization. It promotes the paradigm of evidence-based practice (EBP) since it creates a culture requiring all practitioners to use current and past evidence when dealing with their patients. EBL believes that EBP is important in improving the quality of care and patient outcomes. Therefore, EBL reinforces tools and tactics that promote the practitioners’ growth and improvement in the quality of care (Geerts et al., 2020). Also, EBL creates a new paradigm of EBP since it creates an urge among the practitioners to find out the reason behind a certain behavior and treatment approach. Therefore, it motivates practitioners to apply EBP to improve patient outcomes, staff, and patient rounding, address new patient inquiries, optimize flow, and implement new approaches. Finally, EBP allows them to achieve the best outcome from an approach.

    Evidence-based leaders’ characteristics include transparency and accountability, effective communication, and decisive. A leader must be transparent and accountable for all their actions in an organization to sustain EBP. This can include giving employees reasons for making a certain change in the organization. Also, a leader needs to be an effective communicator to ensure that all employees understand organizational goals and objectives (Savage et al,, 2018). Also, such as leaders can create a culture that encourages employees to share their ideas. In other words, it can give employees a chance to apply EBP in their day-to-day activities. A decisive leader knows what’s best for the organization. Therefore, such leaders can promote and maintain that EBP is the best approach to achieving success for the organization.
